House of Hush Policy Summary Statement
Last updated: February 6, 2021
House of Hush Burlesque’s Client Policies provides a framework for the people who hire us so that our shows can be a success. We’ve outlined some important information below on how to enjoy the show while respecting the safe space we provide. These policies also apply to our audience members!
The full version of the Client Policy Handbook can be found here. Clients must read and agree to adhere by these policies prior to the performance date.
We embrace the magic of burlesque. We celebrate individuality. We value authenticity.
House of Hush is a safe space. For us, this means respect is at the forefront of everything we do. It also means we celebrate and empower differences including where we come from and what we look like.
We know that systemic barriers exist within our society and disproportionately affects BIPOC folks and folks from marginalized backgrounds. We work to actively remove these barriers in burlesque and provide equal opportunity for all. We hope if you choose to hire us, you share this belief.
Here’s what’s important to us:
Using accessible and gender neutral language
Respecting gender identity and expression including pronouns
Embracing all of our differences
Acknowledging lived experience
Speaking up when something isn’t right
Leading through respect and empathy
Seeking consent and if you are unsure, ask!
Here’s what we LOVE during performances:
Cheering, clapping, any positive encouragements
Respecting personal boundaries
Appreciating our costumes with your eyes only
Leaving the photography and videos to the professionals
We don’t tolerate any behaviour that aims to disrespect, bully, hurt or discriminate against our cast, crew and audience members. Any problematic behaviour will be addressed.
Any additional requests (such as meet and greet) need to be arranged prior to the show.
